Developing People Who Help Businesses Grow

From graduate development to practical business support, my work focuses on helping emerging talent build relevant skills and apply them to real-world enterprise challenges.

From Graduate Development to Practical Business Support

Mywork with small businesses also highlighted another opportunity: developing young people with practical skills while connecting those skills to the needs of grassroots businesses.

Through Reta-Mentalita Investment Company Ltd, I facilitated the organisation’s participation as a Host Organisation under the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP), a youth empowerment initiative designed to provide recent graduates with practical workplace experience and skills development.

Following the organisation’s appointment, 10 graduate fellows were assigned to RetaMentalita, where they received training and were engaged in different businessdevelopment activities.

Learning Through Real Business Challenges

The fellows’ development went beyond classroom learning. The approach focused on building practical capabilities and providing opportunities to apply their learning to business-development activities.

As their skills developed, fellows participated in presentations, practical assignments and small-business support activities, helping to connect talent development with realworld enterprise needs. Your document specifically records fellows making presentations after completing their training.

An Idea That Continued to Evolve

The experience contributed to my thinking around a broader model of developing digitally capable young people who can provide practical support to small businesses.

This thinking has continued to evolve through the Digital Business Assistant Programme, combining business knowledge with digital and AI-enabled tools to help young people build relevant skills while supporting small businesses with their digital adoption and growth.

My approach to talent development is simple: build practical skills, create opportunities to apply them, and connect emerging talent with real problems that businesses need solved.
